The Paper Boat

Genesis 6:17 “I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens. Every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish.

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation; the old has gone the new has come!

Have you ever tried making a paper boat? Have you played racing with it through a running water? I guess if not all, most of us have done it.

As a kid, I have raced a paper boat with my playmates many times, and how happy are we back then as we watched our boat sailed via running water after the rainfall and while the floodwater gradually subsides.

In Noah’s time, He was called by God, to build an ark or a boat that is enormous in size, where he was commanded to bring in with him pairs of animals and his family to be saved from the flood.

Our salvation is like that of Noah’s, “..the Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time..“ (Genesis 6:5) and only Noah has found favor in the eyes of the Lord.” (Genesis 6:8)That is why Noah and his family was spared because through them new breed of generations emerged wiping out the rest of mankind.

God build a new covenant through him, just like how God build a new life in us through Jesus. God wiped out our sinful nature through His righteousness, His death on the cross and resurrection so that we too can start a new life in Him, “…the old has gone, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17). So let us live our life worthy of that salvation by living a godly life, following the examples of Jesus, and pursuing a life heavenward.

Why do you think the Lord saved Noah and his family among all mankind?

Knowing that we have a new life in Jesus, how do you think you should live out that new life?
